Cory's first day of 2nd grade

Notice the bangs... Cory decided to give herself a haircut the other day. Of course, Mom had to fix it. Argh! I could have hurt her.

Cory has been after me all summer to take her to the beach.  I finally broke down and took her.

We met up with an old teacher friend, Dee Paez,  from Paxon today.  She lives in a very nice subdivision that has a pool with a waterslide.

Tsunamis 2009 Season Comes to an End

This weekend was the final weekend for Cory's swimming.  The River City Swim League held its championships at the Cecil Aquatics Center and the Equestrian Center.  Cory had four events to swim on Saturday and three on Sunday.

  • Girls 8 & U 25 back - time was 33.27 seconds
  • Girls 8 & U 25 free - time was 31.74
  • Girls 8 & U 25 fly - DQ for doing a scissor kick
  • Girls 8 & U 25 breast - DQ for bringing her arms behind the hip line
  • Girls 8 & U 50 free - time was 1:14.77
  • Girls 8 & U 100 medley relay - time was 2:34.89
  • Girls 8 & U 100 free relay - time was 2:18:.90
  • Oceanway Tsunamis placed 14 out of 20  (not bad for their first year)

I was so proud of how much she had improve over the season.  Her times dropped over 5 seconds in each event at champs.  Her relays lost about a minute.  She even got first place in her heat for the backstroke (which she used to hate).

I managed to swim in a Parent 100 meter free relay without drowning or having a heart attack.  I have never jumped off a block before.  I can understand why the kids are so nervous about it when the first start swimming.

On Monday, OTST held their end of the season  banquet at Oceanway Middle.  Cory was thrilled to get a trophy and a pin.  I think she has decided that she'll do it again next year.

I was without a truck today, so Cory and I put on our suits and headed next door.  It's been a few weeks since we'd given everyone a bath.  Seemed like a good thing to do.

Cory wanted to ride Beauty before her haircut and bath.  She didn't last too long because it;s just so damn HOT here.

Mommy had the camera ready at just the right moment.

     Beauty got a bath.

Then Faith and Izzy got one.  Poor Faith is so faded from the sun.  I cannot wait till she is home under the shade trees.  Erik is super busy trying to open up a motorcycle shop, Wicked Cycles, with Anthony and Tommy.  He'll get my fence built one day.

After all of the girls, I gave Linc a bath.

I tried turning him out, but unfortunately he must have taken some pitbull lessons from Rocky.  He was terrorizing Faith.  I was afraid someone was going to get hurt, so I wound up putting her in the pen.  Poor thing, he got her hormones raging.  She was squirting all of over the place.  Made Skylar and Morco curl their lips.

Rocky was the last to get a bath just because he's so mean to everyone.  I have to keep a constant eye on him when I turn him out since he's bound to challenge somebody.

If those aren't enough pics, HERE's the rest.

July 2, 2009 - Cory's Swim Meet

Cory had a swim meet in Arlington tonight.  It was her first time swimming a 100 meter IM (which consists of 25 meters of fly, back, breast, and free).  I was so proud of her for completing it.  LOL, I know I would have probably fallen over dead half way through.  It was the first time her team won a meet.  Everyone was so thrilled!

I was a timer during the second shift.  I was really nervous about screwing up, but I did ok.  =)

We went to the Jacksonville Zoo today with some friends.  It was a great day to go.  The animals were very active, and we even got to see several of them being fed.  I wish we could have stayed longer, but Cory had a swim meet tonight.
