OUR EXTREME DREAM

Welcome to Our Extreme Dream...

We are a small, family farm located in Jacksonville, FL.  We have several animals including four mustangs and a pony.  We are very passionate about our horses.  This site was designed so that we can show them off to the rest of the world.

Do something WILD, adopt a mustang!!!

Michelle & Faith...

In December of 2008, I was chosen by the Mustang Heritage Foundation to compete in the Gatorland Extreme Mustang Makeover (GEMM)The purpose of the competition was to demonstrate the beauty, versatility, and trainability of these wonderful horses.

I picked up my mustang, Faith, on January 24, 2009 at the adoption in Marianna, FL.  She was a 2 1/2 year old (June 2006), dark chestnut mare with a flaxen mane and tail.  She was captured in Rock Creek, Nevada when she was 3 months old.

I had approximately 68 days to gentle and train Faith.  It was an unbelievably busy time.  On top of being a Wife and Mom (which we know are the hardest jobs in the world), I am an 8th grade Algebra teacher.  Trying to balnce everything became a daily struggle.  There were moments when I felt overwhelmed, but thankfully I had the support of my family and friends to keep me going.

On April 2-5, 2009, Faith and I traveled to the Women LUV Horses event in Ocala to compete in the makeoverOn Friday, were were judged in two areas - grooming & conditioning and on our performance through an in hand course.  Saturday was the riding portion.  Although I had rode Faith several time prior to GEMM, I chose not to in the competition due to some issues under saddle.  For me, no prize was worth overwhelming her or hurting myself.

On Sunday was the auction / adoption.  This was the most difficult part of the entire weekend.  My family, friends, and I were all a mess. We all realized how much we loved Faith and decided that we wanted to bring her home. Thankfully, only one person bid against us, and we were able to adopt her for a mere $200.  :)

I want to thank everyone for the unconditional love and support you gave me and Faith.  You were there to pick me up after I fell, wipe my tears away, and kick me in the rear when I needed it.  I don't know what I would have done without you.  We may not have placed well at the event, but I am extremely proud of us for stepping outside of our comfort zones and participating in the challenge.  I would like to encourage others to do the same.  You will be happy you did.
